Fresh raw oysters are alive when you eat them. Frozen raw oysters are a different product because obviously the oysters are no longer alive. Once thawed, the texture of the meat becomes softer, and the oysters are generally not suitable for raw consumption. Frozen oysters, however, are quite tasty when they are cooked. Oysters should always be thawed in the refrigerator and at least 24 hours should be allowed for thawing. They can be steamed, grilled or broiled. Try your hand at Oysters Rockefeller with the flavours of spinach, garlic, cheese and breadcrumbs to enhance the oysters!
